The NEW Kasane International Airport opened its doors for the first time yesterday – 27th June 2017. Airlink flight SA 8306 touched down from Johannesburg around 13:35 as guests were ushered across the apron for a short walk towards the entrance of this state of the art facility.
Travellers on board the flight said the arrival went absolutely smoothly. Huge tinted glass panels look out over the runway as you enter the main international arrivals terminal and the stylish design is evident throughout the inside of the building.
The passengers who had just landed said immigration procedures went swiftly and bags were immediately available at the baggage carrousel. The new Kasane International Airport is truly world class. Offices and storage areas are still under construction and space for shops and restaurants still in development.
Airport authorities stated that the official opening is expected to be around October this year. The dates have yet to be announced. Kasane International Airport is the gateway to the world-renowned Chobe National Park and the new modern facility reflects Botswana’s commitment as a leading tourism destination in Africa.
